Directions for Easy Paper Bird Craft
Don’t you adore versatile crafts that you can adapt to your mood, length of time, or whatever craft supply you have on hand?
Kids can color directly on the template with markers, colored pencils, crayons, or our new favorite, Kwikstix Solid Tempera Paint. Alternatively, they can cut out the template and use it as a pattern to trace on colorful scrapbook paper as pictured below. Another idea? Trace the template on magazine pages, newspaper, and brown paper bags to turn this activity into an easy Earth Day craft!
The possibilities are endless!
1. Print the template on white cardstock. You will need one template/child.
2. Invite kids to decorate their template or cut it out to trace on patterned scrapbook paper.
3. Glue the bird’s wings, belly, and beak to the body.
4. Squeeze two mini clothespins onto the bird for legs, then press two wiggly eyes onto the bird’s face.
5. If desired, tape a small loop of twine to the back of the bird to turn it into a whimsical Christmas ornament for bird lovers!
Feel free to use real birds as inspiration, as we did with the brown and red robin pictured below.
