How Do You Make a Bat Out of Paper for Kids?
This super cute paper craft idea is perfect for home or school. Follow the instructions below to learn how to make it.
STEP 1: Download and print the Bat Craft Template. Our Preschool Bat Craft Template is available in our Teachers Pay Teachers shop! After purchasing the template, download it to your device and then print it on white cardstock.
STEP 2: Paint the craft templates. Use markers, crayons, paint, or colored pencils to color the patterns! We used our favorite Crayola Washable Paint. Use whatever colors inspire you! Some of our favorite Crayola colors for Halloween include black, violet, orange, Granny Smith Apple, and Turquoise Surf.

STEP 3: Cut the templates. Use scissors to cut apart the pieces of the bat. This is an excellent opportunity for small hands to practice fine motor skills! Give kids a little more time for this step.

STEP 4: Put together the bat! We began by gluing the wings onto the bat’s body. There is a small L for left and a tiny R for right to show kids which side to place the wings on. Instruct kids to place a small dot of glue on the L and R, then place them on the back of the bat’s body.
Next, kids can glue on the ears, eyes, and teeth as pictured below.
STEP 5: Fold and glue the handle. Fold the handle along the dotted line, then glue it to the back of the bat. When the glue is dry, kids can slide their hand into the handle to make their bat fly, as seen in our video tutorial. We painted our handle, but it’s not necessary to do so.
STEP 6: Your bat craft is complete! Kids will enjoy moving their puppets around while you read a Halloween story or sing a Halloween song!
