These glitter ornaments are the perfect way to show off your love of glitter jars year after year on the Christmas tree!
Made with adorable miniature mason jars, festive glitter, and 1 very unusual ingredient, they are a unique Christmas ornament idea guaranteed to bring on the smiles!
Craft Supplies Needed for Glitter Jar Ornaments
- Ball Storage Mini Mason Jars (4 oz.); order the jars from Target
- Glitter
- Pledge Floor Gloss
- Ornament string
- Hammer and nail
- Wooden block
Directions for Glitter Jar Ornaments
1. Squirt the floor gloss into a mini mason jar (we bought our floor gloss and mini mason jars from Meijer). Tightly twist the cap back onto the jar and swirl the floor gloss around inside the jar.
Tip: Looking for a plastic jar alternative? These ones may work for you.
2. Pour the excess floor gloss back into the bottle, then sprinkle a generous amount of glitter into the jar. Twist the cap back on and shake the jar to spread the glitter inside.
Remove the cap and set the jar aside to dry for about 1 hour.
3. Use a hammer, nail, and wooden block to make a hole in the lid of the mason jar.
4. Guide both ends of the ornament string through the top of the jar. Tie a knot under the lid, then trim any excess with scissors.
5. When the jar is dry, twist the lid onto the mason jar. Wipe away excess glitter and floor polish with a warm, wet cloth.
6. Your glitter jar ornament is complete. Make more in a rainbow of colors to share a little sparkle with friends and family this holiday season!

Hello, I am so excited to make these cute glitter jars. Do they last a few years? How well will they do in warmer weather such as Hawaii?
Melissa Lennig says
Hi Doreen, I’m sorry…I have no idea how they will do in Hawaii. I live in the midwest. They have lasted several years for me here! Let me know how you do!
