Flower Suncatcher Craft
There’s something magical about seeing flowers bloom after a long winter, and I love capturing that beauty through crafts. These flower suncatchers are one of my favorite spring projects because they are so simple, mess-free, and add a cheerful floral touch to any window. Plus, kids love the process of layering tissue paper to create their own unique designs!

Directions for the Flower Suncatchers
Follow the instructions below to create the best flower suncatchers!
STEP 1: Download and print the flower templates. Access the free printable flower template by clicking the link in the supplies list and subscribing to our weekly craft newsletter. After subscribing, visit the post in our Substack titled Flower Suncatcher Free Printable to find your download link. Next, print the tulip, daisy, daffodil, and crocus templates on white cardstock.
STEP 2: Cut out the frames. Carefully cut along the outlines of each template with scissors. To create a solid black frame for the suncatcher, try one of these methods:
- Place black cardstock behind the printed template, staple them together, then cut through both layers at once.
- If you have a cutting machine, purchase the SVG file from our shop for a quick, precise cut.
- Cut out the template, trace it onto black cardstock, and then cut it out.
STEP 3: Position the flower outline. Lay the flower onto the sticky side of the self-seal laminating sheet. If you’re using shapes cut from white cardstock, make sure the side with the black ink is facing down.
STEP 4: Attach the tissue paper. Fill the frame with pieces of tissue paper, trimming them as needed to fit smaller details. Keep layering the tissue paper until the entire shape is covered, creating a stained-glass effect.
STEP 5: Secure the design. Once all the tissue paper is in place, cover it with a second laminating sheet to seal everything together. Then, carefully trim around the edges of the flower with scissors.
STEP 6: Display your flower suncatchers! These beautiful suncatchers bring a happy burst of color to any window, making them the perfect decoration for spring! Use double-sided tape or sticky tack to hang (and easily remove) them in a sunny spot.
