Easter Season Suncatchers
Crafting Easter suncatchers is a breeze and a great way to develop fine motor skills. Using just a few supplies such as small squares of tissue paper, scissors, and adhesive sheets, kids can easily create their own translucent window art that captures the sunlight and fills the room with a warm, festive glow.
We used a rainbow of tissue paper for each of our suncatchers, but here are some more ideas:
- Chick – Use a small square of orange tissue paper near the beak and yellow for the rest of the body.
- Peeps Bunny – Use pink, blue, purple, or yellow tissue paper. You could even try pastel colors!
- Eggs (Decorated and Simple Egg Shape) – Create patterns with the tissue paper.

Tissue Paper Suncatchers Directions
Creating Easter suncatchers is a joyful crafting experience! Follow the directions below to learn how to make them.
STEP 1: Download and print the templates. Access the templates by clicking the link in the materials list and subscribing to our craft newsletter. After subscribing, navigate to the post titled “Easter Suncatchers” to find your download link.
Print the free suncatcher templates on white paper or cardstock. Each child will need one copy. Our template includes a “plain eggs” template, a decorated egg template, a bunny, and a chick.
STEP 2: Cut out the shapes. Use scissors to cut out the shapes. Little hands may need some extra help with this part!
We wanted a completely black suncatcher frame (front and back). To achieve this, we placed a sheet of black cardstock behind our template, stapled it to hold it in place, then cut out both the black and white cardstock at the same time. This step is completely optional!
STEP 3: Place the outline on the contact paper. Place your shape onto the sticky side of a sheet of contact paper or self-seal laminating sheet. If you are using a shape that you cut out from white cardstock, be sure to place it so the black ink is facing down.
STEP 4: Arrange the tissue paper. Cover the inside of the suncatcher frame with tissue paper squares. Continue covering the shape with care until it is full.
STEP 5: Add a second adhesive sheet. Once the tissue paper is in place, add another layer of adhesive sheet on top to seal the design. Use scissors to cut around the suncatcher frame.
STEP 6: Your craft is finished! The finished suncatchers make wonderful decorations to proudly display in windows, brightening up any room with their cheerful colors! We recommend hanging them up with double-sided tape or sticky tack.
