Christmas Sensory Bottles
December is the perfect month to make Christmas Sensory Bottles! Our set of festive sensory bottles is colorful, engaging, and each bottle serves a purpose:
- Holiday I Spy-Inspired Sensory Bottle – Focuses attention and is an entertaining boredom buster at home, school, or in the car. Try using it as a writing or drawing prompt.
- Jingle Bell Sensory Bottle – Energizes and excites kids!
- Grinch-Inspired Glitter Sensory Bottle – Calms down strong feelings.
Follow along with our easy step-by-step directions and video tutorial so you can make your own.
1. Holiday I Spy-Inspired Sensory Bottle
Similar to our I Spy-Inspired Christmas Ornaments, kids will delight in searching for miniature cookie cutters, snowmen, gingerbread men, reindeer, Christmas lights, Santa, and more!
This sensory bottle entertains, focuses, and calms kids, making it perfect for road trips, restaurants, and busy holiday gatherings. To make it you will need:
- Empty sensory bottle
- Red, green, and white Perler Beads
- Christmas-themed buttons and miniatures
- Red ribbon
- Double-sided tape
Start by pouring red, green, and white Perler Beads and Christmas-themed buttons and miniatures into an empty sensory bottle. Leave room at the top so the objects move when the bottle is twisted and turned.
Secure a piece of double-sided tape to a strip of ribbon, then wrap it around the cap of the bottle. If desired, seal the cap with super glue.
Note: We purchased our Christmas buttons and miniatures from Hobby Lobby.
2. Jingle Bell Sensory Bottle
This sensory bottle is a noise-making delight! 😂
Little ones, especially, love marching around with this Jingle Bell Bottle in holiday parades! Set it out in your music center or pair it with the book Jingle Bells during storytime. Kids can work on rhythm and keeping a steady beat. You will need:
- Empty sensory bottle
- Gold, red, and silver jingle bells of all sizes
- Silver ribbon
- Double-sided tape
To make it, simply push a variety of jingle bells into the bottle, saving the largest for last! Secure a piece of double-sided tape to a strip of ribbon, then wrap it around the cap of the bottle. If desired, seal the cap with super glue.

3. Grinch-Inspired Glitter Sensory Bottle
Pair this mesmerizing glitter sensory bottle with How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss. The red glitter heart will remind kids to spread love and cheer during the holiday season, and always.
- Empty sensory bottle
- 1/2 cup Elmer’s Translucent Color Glue, green
- Green glitter
- Distilled water
- Red glitter paper
- Heart-shaped paper punch
- Christmas ribbon
- Double-sided tape
First, pour 1 cup of water into the empty sensory bottle. Next, pour 1/2 cup of translucent green glue into the bottle. Add 2 teaspoons of green glitter to the mixture, then top off the bottle with water. Secure a piece of double-sided tape to a strip of ribbon, then wrap it around the cap of the bottle. If desired, seal the cap with super glue.
Last, use a heart-shaped paper punch to make a heart with the red glitter paper. Glue it to the outside of the sensory bottle. Shake the bottle to disperse the glue, then watch the glitter gently fall to the bottom of the bottle.

I have Voss water bottles, but they’re 2 oz less in volume. Can I still add 1/2 cup of the glue or should I cut back a bit?

I think you will be fine! Your glitter may just fall a little slower!
