‘Tis the season for fun, festive playdough! Unique, holiday themed playdough is a great way to keep the little ones busy while you catch up on holiday preparations. While I addressed Christmas cards, my boys dug their hands into a fresh batch of minty Candy Cane Playdough. Here’s how you can make it at home with just 6 ingredients!

Candy Cane Playdough
Materials:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup salt
- 2 tsp Cream of Tartar
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- peppermint essential oil
- red food dye
Directions:
1. Whisk 1 cup flour, 1 cup water, ½ cup salt, 1 tsp Cream of Tartar, 1 tbsp vegetable oil, and a few drops of red food dye in a small saucepan. Stir over low heat until a ball forms. Remove the playdough from the saucepan and add 3-5 drops of peppermint essential oil. Knead well!
2. Repeat the directions, omitting the food dye this time to make white playdough.
My kids play with playdough for hours. They love to shape it, extrude it, hammer it, and “cook” with it.
Paired with seasonal cookie cutters and a homemade playdough mat, playdough is a thoughtful, inexpensive gift that is guaranteed to be well-received!
