How to Make This Cute Craft
This easy paper hedgehog craft is perfect for crafters of all ages. Follow the instructions below to learn how to make it.
STEP 1: Download and print the craft template. Our St. Paddy’s hedgehog craft template is available in our Teachers Pay Teachers shop! After purchasing the template, download it to your device and then print it on white cardstock. The PDF files include a blank hedgehog template, as well as files to create a festive card. We even included a selection of paper wiggly eyes so kids can design their own hedgehog.
STEP 2: Color the hedgehog, shamrock, and gold coin templates. Use washable paint, markers, crayons, or colored pencils to color the patterns.
We used our favorite Crayola Washable Kids Paint in the colors Black, Green, Granny Smith Apple, and Gold.
STEP 3: Cut the templates. Use scissors to cut apart the hedgehog body, card template, shamrocks, and coins. The coins are easy to cut, but the shamrocks will provide some extra fine-motor practice for kids!
STEP 4: Put the craft together. Secure each shamrock and coin to the hedgehog’s body with glue as pictured below. If you wish to turn your craft into a holiday card, glue the top of the hedgehog’s body to the second template that contains the text “Happy St. Patty’s!”
Use plastic wiggly eyes and a pom pom for the nose, or select a paper nose and eyes from our printable template.
STEP 5: Enjoy the craft. Your hedgehog craft is complete! Use tape to hang the hedgehog to the refrigerator, a door, or your classroom bulletin boards, or enjoy gifting them to friends, family, or neighbors.
